Connecticut Elites Savor Tastes of Brazil and Japan at The Essex



Fifteen lucky members of theYelp Elite Squadwere invited toThe Essex周四night to experience highlights from owner/chef Colt Taylor’s innovative globally inspired menu. Attendees were treated to an exquisitely prepared and presented multi-course tasting that showcased dishes from the restaurant’s current Brazilian-themed menu (available through March) and a preview of the upcoming Japanese inspired menu.

Caipirinha in hand, guests were seated in a cozy private dining room aglow with a fireplace and adorned with artwork created by Colt Taylor’s mother. The meal was beautifully orchestrated to alternate between Brazilian and Japanese flavors, featuring a selection of dishes including: baby prawns with manioc pancake; black cod with banana, coconut, and lime;moqueca (Brazilian fish stew); feijoada; ahi and walu tekkadon; amazingly fresh sashimi; yakitori chicken; scallop with brown butter and ginger; tonkatsu with sesame and radish, and so much more.

With its constantly evolving menu and expertly prepared recipes, it’s no wonder The Essex has a series of awards and accolades under its belt, including “Best New Restaurant” by New England Today.
