1.Apple Barn Orchard & Winery– Elkhorn, WI

What they’re known for:Established in 1985, the orchard, country store, and winery have been passed down from generation to generation.

What they’re known for:This family-owned and operated farm is the oldest pick-your-own orchard in New Jersey. They’re known for their vast array of u-pick fruits, including New Jersey Strawberries, Sour Cherries, New Jersey Peaches, Nectarines, New Jersey Apples, and Pumpkins.

3.Beak & Skiff Apple Orchards(Lafayette, NY)

What they’re known for:This family-owned orchard was opened in 1911 when George Skiff, a Syracuse onion farmer, and Andrew Beak, a local dairy farmer, met at the farmers market and decided to join forces and open their own orchard. Today, visitors enjoy attractions such as a distillery, tasting room, tavern, apple barn, general store, and even a treehouse for the kids.

We identified businesses in the food and restaurants categories on Yelp with a large concentration of reviews mentioning “apple picking,” then ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews mentioning “apple picking,” between January 1st, 2022 – August 23rd, 2023. This list looked at businesses in the United States. All businesses were marked open on Yelp as of August 23rd, 2023. When available, all businesses on this list have a passing health score as of August 23rd, 2023. For geographic diversity, no more than three businesses were included per state.
