Tomas

Representing San Antonio Yelp for almost two years, Tomas R is a self-certified night owl obsessed with all thingsAlamo City.We catch up with him at one of his favorite local breweries,Alamo Beer Co., sipping on a Golden Pale Ale.

What did you do before working at Yelp?

Not too long ago I worked for Louis Vuitton as a Client Relations Ambassador and Special Events Coordinator. It was pretty crazy to work with luxury products from a 150+ year brand, curating special events for VICs all over. Ultimately customer service and event planning are what led me to Yelp!

What’s your favorite thing about representing San Antonio on Yelp?

That’s like asking if I prefer chicken and waffles or street tacos! In all seriousness, I love to bring awareness to San Antonio’s business, non-profit, and events communities. Yelp is a great platform for locals and visitors alike to discover the passionate people behind San Antonio’s local business scene. I wake up every day eager to see what my city has to offer and what I can do to help show some love to the 210!

What’s a great local business that you discovered because of Yelp?

I swear people think I work forThe Last Wordbut it’s seriously one of the coolest spots around! The entrance of the bar is literally underground and their craft cocktails on tap are insane. And the free shuttle to (their sister bar)The Brooklynitesweetens the deal. #winning

How would you spend a perfect Saturday in San Antonio?

A perfect Saturday would keep me atThe Pearl Studioarea literally from morning to night. I’d grab breakfast atBakery Lorraine(they’re famous country-wide for their pastries and desserts), then grab an iced coffee to go atLocal Coffee. I’d explore the museum section of the River Walk, pass byThe Grotto&Camden Street, then walk the grounds ofPearl’s Farmers Market. After I’ve built up an appetite, I’d grab lunch atSoutherleigh. Debating between some Caramel Salt Lick ice cream atLickor a mangonada margarita atLa Gloria, I’d eventually convince myself to do both! Luckily, I could space out these two treats and explore all of the local shops in the area. Once the evening came around, I’d have to grab a nice dinner atCured, with nightcap drinks atGolden Glove. Best part of it all? You can stay atThe Hotel Emma, a world-renowned boutique hotel!

If you could take one local celebrity to lunch, where would you go and with whom?

We’re pretty infamous around town for using the term Puro San Antonio, slang for keeping it local. Stephanie G who oversees the local blogPuro Pinche, is an absolute hoot! I’m certain we’d end up atOchoin theHotel Havanato munch on some cubanos and chorizo con queso. I’m also going to throw it out there:Spurs Jesuswould probably tag along, too!
