While diversity isn’t as ubiquitous as barbecue here in Austin, in honor of Black History Month, we’d like to shine a spotlight on just some of the black-owned businesses putting their stamp on the 512 scene. Whether you’re looking to hit the gym or stuff your face, create a custom scent or find the perfect ensemble, these local spots have you covered.

Easley Boxing And Fitness

This hubby and wife team “wanted to create a space where people could make a positive change in their lives.” Their South Austin gym offers a wide range of classes for beginners, as well those looking for more advanced training, they even offer two women’s only classes each week. Your first session is free!

This all natural bath and body shop featuring products handmade with African shea butter is the brainchild of natural mixologist, Gloria Henry-Manor. In addition to lotions and soaps created specifically with the community in mind, Black Butterfly Bath & Body also offers loose leaf organic teas and their very own line of natural hair care products. They also have a fragrance oil bar that houses over 300 fragrance oils so you can customize your own scent!

Since 2016, this family and veteran owned business has been keeping bellies full and happy!
