Montreal Fest Watch: Lobster Clam Jam!

The weather is finally warming up in beautiful Montreal, and the city of Festivals is coming alive. Montreal is famous for huge international gatherings like theFestival International de Jazzand theJust For Laughs Comedy Festival, but there is so much more to discover.

Lobster Clam Jamlaunched in 2013 and was the first lobster fest of its kind in Montreal, featuring local restaurants serving lobster, seafood, and other bites and delights, plus a Mojito bar and beer bar. In 2018, to celebrate their 5th anniversary, the fest added a Dog Park, a whole bunch more food trucks, wine and beer trucks, and more family friendly entertainment. As has been the case every year, 15% of proceeds from the Lobster Clam Jam are donated to theStarlight Foundation.

For almost 25 years, the Starlight Children’s Foundation has been transforming the lives of Canadian children who live with serious illness and their families. They are there for the entire journey; in-hospital Starlight provides distraction, entertainment and relief from the stress and boredom of hospitalization. When out-of-hospital, Starlight children benefit from the ‘Escapes’ and ‘Wishes’ programs— giving them an opportunity to leave the ‘sick’ behind and find a little hope and childhood again with their families.

Lobster Clam Jam is supporting these kids and their families while throwing a joyful Spring festival, giving locals and tourists lots of heartwarming and delicious reasons to add it to their Montreal event calendar.

This year even more excellent restaurants are involved, and we’re excited to spotlight some Yelp-favourites for you. The quotes and photos below don’t necessarily reflect what these restaurants will be serving at the fest, but they do give a good of the kinds of goodness you can expect.

Belon

“原始的酒吧是可爱,一切都很明显super fresh. We sampled oysters from both Canada and the US. We relaxed, enjoyed our beverages and oysters until we decided to move on to the next thing.”Jody W.

Keste Pizzeria

“The food was magnificent! My dish, Fresca pizza with prosciutto was super tasty. My sister loved her dish, the Gigi pizza with ricotta and mushrooms. My mom had a shrimp risotto dish, she finished it super fast because she loved it so much. My dad had a calzone, which is a fried stuffed pizza and he thought it was amazing.”Shahanaz B.

LApop

“The decor is very cute/clean and would please any foodie instagrammers. The waffle was cooked well and the flavor really hit the spot! The drink selection was really interesting/good. I had a matcha drink with no sugar and loved it! They also have a selection of coffee. They have alcoholic popsicles!!!!”Alexia B.

Lucille’s Oyster Dive

“I ordered 6 oysters to start and was rewarded with a beautiful platter of oysters accompanied by tiny vials of vinegars and sauces that made the molluscs really sing. As a second course I had the half octopus (quadropus?) which was yet another fantastic course. Perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and one of those dishes that sneaks back into your memory, beckoning you to revisit the flavours. So good!!”Stan C.

Mimi la Nuit

“The food was fantastic! We ordered the Lamb Shank, the salmon and the duck. The lamb was so tender, the salmon was so tasty and the duck was delightful. Our waiter was very professional and took great pride in offering us great service. The wine (Chardonnay) and the craft beer were excellent too!”Julietissima M.

Pizzeria No 900

“We ordered the Margherita and the Mild Italian Sausage pizza’s. Both were absolutely amazing! The crust was perfectly crispy on the edges.”Kyla C。

QDC Burger

“A definite must-have burger! The meat itself is so flavourful that once the burger was 75% eaten, I came to realization that I haven’t even put a drop of condiment! And I’m usually a ketchup queen! And the short rib poutine was out of this world!”Kat Z.

Robbie’s Smokehouse

“We started with steak nachos, beef wrapped in bacon, cheese sausage dip and a clam chowder soup. The entrees were DELICIOUS! So much flavour, not overly salty and the clam chowder had actual chunks of seafood pieces.”Sheryl L.

Ryu

“The fish is excellent and they come from responsible/sustainable resources. The sushi pieces come at the perfect size with a beautiful mixture of flavors each – yup! I’ve found my new fav sushi place in town.”Ida K.
