The food and flavours of Shanghai were brought to life at a wonderful Elite Event atTaste of Shanghaiin bustling World Square. From the decor inspired by winding lilong alleyways to owner Aaron’s childhood stories, this was as close to Shanghai as you’re going to get without a plane ticket. Proceedings kicked off with a dumpling-making session, where Yelpers tried their hands at signature pork and chive dumplings and famous xiao long bao – with mixed results! What followed was a newfound appreciation for the skill of the expert dumpling makers in the restaurant’s open kitchen.
Then it was time for a Shanghainese feast! No corner of the menu was left unturned, from wontons in red chilli oil sauce to succulent pan-fried pork buns, right through to surprises like braised bamboo shoot and stir-fried cauliflower served in a hot wok. This was a meal fit for an Emperor! The creativity and authentic flavours of the menu shone through in every dish.
